Meet the Buddes

We’re Bradley and Michelle Budde, a husband-and-wife team living in Bowling Green, Kentucky. After more than 20 years of marriage and raising two wonderful daughters (who’ve since flown the nest), we’ve found ourselves navigating community spaces that aren’t always welcoming to those sensitive to sound. Bradley lives with significant hearing loss due to years of overexposure in loud establishments, and Michelle experiences intense migraines triggered by elevated noise levels.

Since moving to Bowling Green, we've had to walk out of churches, restaurants, sporting events, and more—not for lack of enthusiasm, but because the decibel levels made staying impossible. That’s what inspired Turn it Down, Town. We’re here to educate and encourage change, spreading awareness that high volume and high decibels aren't the same—and that spaces can still feel vibrant while being more inclusive. With thoughtful construction, sound absorption, and a little community care, we believe we can turn the volume down without turning the energy off.

Our Mission

Turn it Down, Town is a community-driven initiative advocating for safer, quieter public spaces. Founded by Bradley and Michelle Budde, we are raising awareness about the health risks of high-decibel environments and empower people to take action. By encouraging the use of tools like the SoundPrint app to measure and share sound levels, we’re building a movement toward transparency—where noise ratings become as common as reviews for food or service. Our ultimate goal? To partner with platforms like Google Maps, Yelp, and Apple Maps to make sound-level data part of everyday decision-making.
